Research

Together the ZISC partners have defined a set of research projects. Each project runs for 2-3 years and is carried out by a joint ETH/industry team, including doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers funded by the ZISC. Teams are designed to combine expertise from the different partners and to ensure that theory and practice are optimally combined.

The projects address foundational questions in building secure networked information systems. For instance, how can one achieve security with limited computational resources? What is the nature and cause of networked information system vulnerabilities and what principles are useful for organizing networks and systems to reduce these vulnerabilities? How can design and implementation errors be reduced? How can secure systems be built from insecure (typically "commercial of-the-shelf") components?
